The popularity of the Christmas Oratorio  is growing exponentially and beginning to rival the St Matthew Passion in this respect. The Nederlands Kamerkoor may rightfully claim to lead the way in fostering this tradition, and it does so in a stimulating way: each year it collaborates with a different high-profile Baroque ensemble. This season it is the turn of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin. Again this year, Bach’s masterpiece can be heard in a performance you do not want to miss, featuring a cast of the finest soloists and conducted by the choir’s chief conductor Peter Dijkstra.
