“What does togetherness feel like for you?”
NKK NXT 20/21 (Immix), the fourth edition of the talent development program of the Netherlands Chamber Choir, explores the meaning of togetherness in their new performance BLOOM – a Sequence of Gatherings. Conceptualized and developed in a world in lock-down, full of online meetings, where physical meetings are at a premium, the performance is a musical inquiry into this new art of gathering.
How do we come together when we are physically apart? NKK NXT 20/21 – Immix (to blend, or to mix) designed a performance that will be breaking boundaries between personal presence and digital distance, in a search for the future of choral music. To be viewed either live in the Paardenkathedraal in Utrecht or online via livestream, the singers construct and deconstruct language, sound and different realities, blending the digital world with the physical space and mirroring a real life on the screen.
NKK NXT 20/21 is made possible with the support of Elise Mathilde Fonds, Fonds 1999, Janivo Stichting, Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Utrecht and the Van Bijleveltstichting.
