In this programme the Nederlands Kamerkoor and Amsterdam Sinfonietta literally explore the boundaries of music, text, performers and concert hall. Whether it’s Arvo Pärt’s heavenly Spiegel im Spiegel, or Veljo Tormis’ wild Curse upon Iron, these two top ensembles hover between small solo works and expansive settings for choir and string orchestra. From every corner, sounds can be heard echoing, answering and moving through the concert space. The compositions rise up from every age, from the dulcet 16th-century Tunes of Thomas Tallis to the fiery Concerto by Lepo Sumera, written in 2006.
