last update: April 16th 2021
De performances of the Netherlands Chamber Choir are subject to ongoing changes due to the pandemic. Most recently, a number of tours had to be cancelled due to the (extended) lockdown in the Netherlands, the bad prospects on welcoming audiences in the concert halls again on short term, and the high demands that producing and performing put on the singers and staff of the choir. Please find more information about the tours in the list below.
The choir’s fall of 2020 was marked by alternative programming which enabled us to keep performing, albeit in unusual fashionan and in smaller settings than usual. In September, the choir performed the programme Lux in tenebris in an intimate setting. In November, the choir launched Di Lasso’s Tears of Peter, a high-profile collaboration with Dance Company Nanine Linning and Marijn Rademaker (former principal soloist at the Dutch National Ballet). Tido Visser and Nanine Linning co-directed this performance of Di Lasso’s masterpiece on Peter’s suffering, placed in a contemporary setting. Marijn Rademaker danced the role of Peter, who renounces Jesus despite being one of his most loyal followers. Peter’s struggle is observed and accompanied by seven singers trapped in life-sized glass columns, separating them from each other and from Peter. A videorecording is available as on-demand stream, find more information on the dedicated page!

The cultural world is being hit hard by this crisis. Our thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones or are suffering, but also with our singers and musicians. As self-employed workers they are faced with great losses in income and uncertainty. If you can spare a contribution, we appreciate it – all donations made to the choir are being used to support our singers in these difficult times. This way, we can ensure that in the future we can continue to perform and present the most beautiful choral music in thought-provoking and touching ways.
