Stefan Berghammer - Tenor

Stefan (born 1970) graduated from the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. Here he studied school music, vocal pedagogy, piano and trombone. In London, he obtained his diploma in solo singing at the Royal Academy of Music.

Stefan is a sought-after soloist for J.S. Bach's oratorios and cantatas. His opera and concert repertoire ranges from Renaissance to Contemporary music. He is a member of the Huelgas Ensemble specialising in Renaissance music. Stefan belongs to a group of singing teachers who adhere to Maestro David Jones' method and has combined this technique method with different types of body exercises. In this way, he has developed a new approach to vocal training.

Prizes

He has won the Elena Gerhard Lieder Prize in London and, with the Huelgas Ensemble, has won a large number of music awards in recent years, including: the Edison Klassiek Prize 2007, the Echo Klassik Preis 2010, the Clef de Mois Resmusica 2014, Diapason D'or 2014, Choc de Classica 2014, Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik 2014 and the Diapason d'Or de l'Année 2014.

Stefan Berghammer lives in Almere and gives singing lessons at his studio in Almere in addition to his work as a concert and ensemble singer. Stefan further enjoys working on RC modelling (aircraft and function models). He has a YouTube channel about this called Steve Mountainhammer.
