Fauré Requiem
We are grateful for the invitation from the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra to musically accompany the commemoration of the 1940 bombing on May 14, 2025, in the Grote of St. Laurenskerk in Rotterdam. We will repeat this program on May 16 and 18, 2025, in De Doelen.
Gabriel Fauré's Requiem enchants listeners with its sublime melodies and serene atmosphere. This piece, written as a celebration of life after death, embraces hope rather than sorrow. With its gentle and comforting sounds, Fauré weaves a spiritual tapestry that envelops the listener and offers solace in times of mourning and grief. From the ethereal tones of the In Paradisum to the powerful climax of the Libera Me, the Fauré Requiem takes listeners on an emotional journey of redemption and peace. Experience the depth of this timeless composition in a moving performance featuring top soloists Christiane Karg and Thomas Oliemans.
