On Sunday, September 6th, NKK NOW is organizing a Singing Session with singer-songwriter Luca! In just one afternoon, we will co-write a song and record it for her new EP.

For this project, Luca is looking for children aged 9 to 13 who want to share their perspective on the world: what would you do if you were in charge? How would you make the world a better place? All these ideas will be woven into a song that we will write together during the afternoon.

  • Sunday, September 6
    2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
  • TivoliVredenburg, Utrecht

About Luca

Luca creates Dutch-language alternative pop featuring personal lyrics about themes like (queer) love, activism, mental health, and growing up. The strings and brass in her band make Luca’s live performance unique and enchanting, as does the honest, vulnerable nature of her lyrics; Luca means every word she sings, and you can feel it. In 2025, Luca played her first sold-out headline show in Utrecht, won the Popprijs van Amstel & Meerlanden, and released her debut EP ‘Zwaaien door het raam’. Her new project will be released at the end of 2026: an activist, socially critical EP titled ‘Kinderspel’.

In ‘Kinderspel’, Luca explores themes such as the pressure of societal expectations and polarization in society. The EP was written around the idea that the world would be simpler if we approached each other with the openness of a child and looked at the world more through a child's eyes. Connection, understanding, and empathy should be child's play; yet along the way, we seem to have forgotten how. Kinderspel is a call to keep talking to one another.

About NKK NOW

With NKK NOW, the Netherlands Chamber Choir invests in a new generation of singers, creators, and listeners. Building on nearly 90 years of experience in high-level choral singing, we are working toward a future where every voice counts—especially those of young people for whom singing together isn't a given.

Singing together is about more than making music. It requires listening, tuning in to one another, giving space, and daring to let your own voice be heard. At a time when polarization, performance pressure, and inequality of opportunity impact the lives of young people, choral singing offers a powerful and accessible counterweight. Research shows that singing together contributes to connection, self-confidence, and social well-being. At the same time, many children and young people face barriers to actively participating in culture. With NKK NOW, we aim to turn that tide.
