Netherlands Chamber Choir begins search for new artistic director
Artistic director Tido Visser to step down after a period of innovative leadership
The Netherlands Chamber Choir announces that Tido Visser will step down as artistic director as of January 1, 2026. After a meaningful and influential tenure, he will be setting his sights on new horizons. Tido has served as general and artistic director since July 1, 2013, and since 2022 as artistic director alongside business director Laura de By. Following the summer, the Netherlands Chamber Choir will begin its search for a new artistic director.
Tido Visser explains his decision as follows: "It has been a joy—still is a joy—to work with and for the Netherlands Chamber Choir. Now it is time for new conversations, with new insights, on new topics. A new sound. To clear the ears. For the organization. And for myself. It keeps the mind flexible—mine, and those of the people who stay. I wish the Netherlands Chamber Choir a wonderful journey toward the next milestone on the horizon."
Trudy Vos, Chair of the supervisory board, adds: "We are deeply grateful to Tido for everything he has contributed to the development of the Netherlands Chamber Choir over the past 12+ years. Tido has a keen sense for societal developments and the ability to translate these into relevant programming. His constant drive—together with Chief Conductor Peter Dijkstra—to position and maintain the Choir at the highest artistic level has, in recent years, taken us to New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Paris, Adelaide, Brussels, and to all the major concert halls and churches across the Netherlands. In addition, through the founding of NKK NXT and youth choir Yara, he has been a strong advocate for talent development and education."

The artistic director of the Netherlands Chamber Choir is responsible for the artistic profile and direction of one of the world’s leading professional chamber choirs. Together with the business director, they form the executive leadership of the organization. The search for a new artistic director will commence in September 2025 and will be facilitated by Perrett Laver.
