Franse van der Wiel - alto

Mezzo-soprano Franske van der Wiel (1993) began singing at the age of six at the Koorschool Midden-Gelderland in Ede. Under the direction of conductor Albert Wissink, her musical foundation was laid, and she discovered her great passion for the profession. It was only natural that in 2012 she started her classical singing studies at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Zwolle with Elena Vink. After completing her bachelor’s degree (2016), Franske graduated cum laude from her master’s program (2018) with Claudia Patacca. During her studies, she took part in various masterclasses, interpretation classes, and song classes with many teachers. She is currently coached by Marion van den Akker.

In the meantime, Franske has developed into a highly sought-after concert soloist and ensemble singer, performing a wide repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary classical music. She is praised for her beautiful vocal color and warm timbre. Her solo repertoire includes various oratorios, requiems, and masses by, among others, Bach, Mozart, Rossini, Duruflé, Dvořák, Handel, Mahler, and Copland. She has also performed opera roles such as Dido (Purcell – Dido & Aeneas), Second Lady (Mozart – Die Zauberflöte), and Magelone (Brahms – Short Story). In addition to her work as a soloist, Franske is also a member of the Groot Omroepkoor and the Nederlands Kamerkoor.
