Jasper Schweppe - Basso

In Zwolle, the Netherlands, Jasper (1969) started studying Performing Musician at the Conservatorium. He obtained his diploma at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.

Jasper has experience with many different styles of music such as Gregorian chant, early baroque and baroque. He has a special interest in the composers Claudio Monteverdi and Constantijn Huygens. He has sung in several opera productions. With the Orchestra of the 18th century, he sang in Rameau's international production Les Indes Galantes.

At the Musicora in Paris, Jasper won first prize. This is a competition for Twentieth Century French Song. Jasper sings in many important professional choirs in the Netherlands. His CDs La Bonne Chanson with songs by Fauré on texts by Verlaine and Die Winterreise by Schubert were praised by the press. CD recordings of Poulenc songs on texts by Paul Éluard and Schubert's Schöne Müllerin are planned for summer and autumn 2017.

Jasper is married, has 3 sons, 4 cats and a dog. Furthermore, Jasper enjoys hiking in Dalfsen a few times a week and loves experiencing nature in all seasons. He goes to Texel a few times a year and kites there in the summer with big powerful stunt kites.

Jasper has been a core member since 2005. He also works as artistic coordinator of the Netherlands Chamber Choir.
