New chairman NKK Fund

With great pleasure, we welcome Jan Willem Schenk as the new chairman of the NKK Fund, the support foundation of the Netherlands Chamber Choir.

Jan Willem Schenk began his career in notarial practice in 1992 at NautaDutilh in Rotterdam. After working as a partner and notary at several international firms, he founded the legal practice at HVK Stevens in Amsterdam over 11 years ago, where he is currently a partner and notary. His expertise lies in advising (family) businesses and their owners and families. In addition to his work as a notary, Jan Willem is a lecturer, editor-in-chief of Lexlumen Flexmodellen, and authoring a legal handbook on family governance and the continuity of family wealth.

Jan Willem enthusiastically shares: "My love for music was instilled in me from a very young age. As a child, I often joined my parents and brothers at concerts, operas, and musicals. Both in primary and secondary school, music classes were taught with passion—ranging from classical singing to modern styles. During my youth and student years, I greatly enjoyed playing the trumpet. I also have a deep love for Latin American music and classical music. Together with my wife, I pass on this love for music and singing to our children. The NKK brings music to people and connects people through music. Everyone can and should be able to enjoy music. That’s why I’ve joined the board of the NKK Fonds with great enthusiasm. I look forward to contributing to this top-tier international ensemble.”

The Netherlands Chamber Choir’s programs focusing on talent development, participation, and education rely on the support of our donors. The NKK Fund, now chaired by Jan Willem Schenk, is an independent foundation dedicated to raising private donations for the Netherlands Chamber Choir.

Jan Willem succeeds Arnold Schilder, whose term has ended. We are deeply grateful to Arnold for the solid foundation he established as the first chairman of the NKK Fund since 2020 and for his immense dedication to the Netherlands Chamber Choir and the NKK Fund.

The NKK Fund board consists of:

  • Jan Willem Schenk (Chairman)
  • Olivier Sueur (Treasurer)
