Roland Kieft

Roland Kieft grew up in a musical family and studied cello at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague and the Utrecht Conservatorium. He went on to build a career as a conductor, working with virtually all professional Dutch symphony orchestras, including the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Residentie Orkest. He also worked internationally as a conductor, spent many years as a presenter and editor-in-chief at AVRO, and was a familiar voice on NPO Klassiek.

Roland Kieft

Since 2012, Kieft has held various executive positions in the cultural sector, including Artistic Director of the Residentie Orkest and General Director of Stichting Omroep Muziek (Dutch Broadcasting Music Foundation). Since January 2026, he has been serving as interim Artistic Director at the Netherlands Chamber Choir. As of September 1, 2026, he will assume the role of Managing and Artistic Director.
