The Netherlands Chamber Choir is delighted to welcome Roland Kieft as its new Artistic Director. The Supervisory Board has appointed him effective September 1, 2026.
Since January of this year, Roland Kieft has has served as the choir's interim artistic director. With his appointment, the Netherlands Chamber Choir chooses both continuity and a strong foundation for the further development of the ensemble and the preparation for the new arts plan for the next policy period.
Together with Laura de By, Managing Director, Roland Kieft will form the management board of the Netherlands Chamber Choir. As a joint management board, they will co-lead the organization. In doing so, the directors will work closely with chief conductor Peter Dijkstra to ensure the further artistic development, positioning, and future of the Netherlands Chamber Choir.
Trudy Vos, Chair of the Supervisory Board:
“The Supervisory Board is pleased to appoint Roland Kieft as Artistic and Managing Director of the Netherlands Chamber Choir. Based on our experiences over the past few months, we are highly confident that Roland is currently the right person to lead the Netherlands Chamber Choir in this role. With his extensive experience, he has proven himself to be a unifying and inspiring leader. He knows the choir and the organization well, and has a keen eye for the artistic development and future of the NCC. In Roland Kieft and Laura de By, the NCC has a complementary management team that, in close cooperation with chief conductor Peter Dijkstra, will lead the further development and preparation of the ensemble for the next policy period.”
Roland Kieft:
“It is with great pleasure that I continue my involvement with the NKK as Artistic and Managing Director. Over the past few years, I have followed the programming and performances of the choir and chief conductor Peter Dijkstra with admiration. This is a wonderful moment to step in, especially with the developments leading toward the new arts plan period. I also look forward to collaborating with our partners, the supervisory board, the staff, and my colleague Laura de By.
The Netherlands Chamber Choir looks forward to its continued collaboration with Roland Kieft, and to the coming years in which, together with musicians, staff, programmers, donors, funds, subsidy providers, and partners, it will continue to build on its artistic and social ambitions and its unique position within the Dutch and international music scene.
