Maria Antoniou

Maria Antoniou is a singer (soprano) from Cyprus, who studied at Fontys School of The Arts, in Tilburg, The Netherlands. Prior, she studied at the Music School of Ammohostos in Cyprus from 2014 - 2017, where she performed with the Symphonic Orchestra of Cyprus as part of the choir of the School, as well as a soloist in many other performances.

During her studies in The Netherlands starting from 2018 - 2022, she performed various concerts and performances as a soloist, or part of choirs and ensembles, in different theaters all over the Netherlands and Cyprus. In 2021, she was casted as Belinda, from the Opera “Dido and Aeneas” by Purcell, as a project of her studies in classical singing. In 2024, she played the role of Antigone in a newly composed Opera by Gabriele Petouchoff called “ANTIGONE”, which its story is based on the Ancient Greek Drama of “Antigone” by Sophocles. In 2025, she took part in the Opera “Carmen” by Georges Bizet, with the Ukrainian Chamber Opera, conducted by Jeroen Weierink and directed by Marc Krone, as a member of the Chorus.

Apart from her journey in classical singing, she had many performances in other genres, such as Soul and Folk Traditional singing, where she can express her versatility in her artistry and singing.

Taking part in NKK NXT is a way for Maria to push boundaries and explore creative possibilities, as far as her singing and performing, by using her voice to the max of her versatility and skill, as well as her body within movement. Creating and collaborating with other singers and creatives, is something that she looks forward to, as she holds it with great value as an artist. She is also looking forward to indulging in new creative and musical ways of being an artist.
